I'm not sure
why, and I'm not sure if I'm the only one that has this
problem.
However, when I have someone following me thanks to
Give Your Order, a lot of times when they walk through a door with
me, a door that divides a cell, they receive fall damage!
I
don't get why this happens. It doesn't go both ways most of the
time. *Ie: From a house in Balmora going outside, no damage.
However, same door, going back in, I hear my partner get fall
damage.*
More times than not, this usually kills low level
generic people from Morrowind Comes Alive.
But even Guards
and Ordinators get the same problem. Anyone know why this happens? =

This is a
known issue with Give Your Orders, and the reason is that the npcs
have a constant slowfall effect. Slow fall is screwed up on npcs and
causes them to take damage when passing through doors. Easiest
way to deal with it (unless you want to go into TESCS and remove
spelleffects) is to open up the console, click on a companion so
that his ID-name shows up at the top of the console.
Type: SetAcrobatics 400
Do that with each of your
companions. They now will have such a high acrobatics skill that
they will hardly take any damage when passing through doors, in
spite of the slowfall effect.

Slowfall. Not
currently using GYO, so I'm a bit hazy on the details - if memory
serves though, it's actually a Morrowind bug. Companions using a
slowfall spell will take fall damage going through doors and GYO
(again, I think) gives them a constant slowfall effect so
they don't get hurt while following you if you jump off a roof or
something. (Would explain why it only happens in one direction -
that wouldn't be needed indoors.)
Possible solutions: If you
want to keep the slowfall effect, try Vorwoda's Companion-Friendly Doors - if it doesn't work
automatically, you may need to adapt it. (Instructions are in the
readme.) Alternatively, take a look at the GYO scripts and remove
the slowfall effect altogether.
If that doesn't work, you
might also try asking at TheLys forums - I'm sure this has been mentioned
before, so there may be a fix around that I don't know about.

Well this is
the thing.. Only the companions I gain with GYO get this problem.
Anything else like CM_Partners or BAR_Mercenaries don't get
hurt.
Odd...but maybe because those two mods make their own
NPCs...*shrugs*

The other two
mods will have their own follow script - no slowfall effect, so
they'll go through the doors without a problem. Again, they're not
mods I'm terribly familiar with, but I would guess the companions
level with you, so are likely to be able to tolerate circumstances
better. i.e. if both you and they are at level 20 with acrobatics at
70, you'll be fine with that jumping from a roof mentioned earlier.
GYO lets you command anyone to follow you, regardless of
whether they're up to the task or not, so things like the slowfall
effect were put there to minimise accidental damage.

Only the GYO companions have a
constant sloweffect added to them, also, only some of the GYO
companions level with you. That's why I suggested setting their
acrobatics skill in the console as the easiest solution, and the one
TheLys generally also recommends. Both Baratheon's mods and
Partners mod will have the same problem if the companion are using a
slowfall effect, but if your level is high enough, there will be no
noticeable damage, as I believe both Baratheon and Blackie have used
a setting for acrobatics that goes something like
Player->GetAcrobatics + 100.
You will still have another
problem with them, though - if they levitate through a door, they
will disappear (goes for both GYO, Partners and Baratheon's). This
is also a Morrowind original bug, which affect almost all companions
(except newer companion by me, where TheOtherFelix has added a
scripting solution to the problem). So make sure that you have no
levitation effect active when passing through doors.

I tried a
number of these proposed solutions. The one that worked was that
provided by TheLys here ---> Re: Give your Orders 1.3 help fixing slow fall
scripts.
Quote:
The "debugging" works this way:
- open the mod in the
CS - go to spells tab - find all spells beginning by
"Orders_" or "_Orders_" - in those spells components, remove
all "slowfall" references (replace with blank) - close them
all, save the mod.
That's all. This is not really a
solution as you're removing a feature actually, but it's the only
way to temporary run the mod correctly. I've found another way to
have slowfall and not have your companions die since then, but it
is part of a whole new system and will have to wait a bit that the
code of the new version is stabilized enough to be released.

Erm...that is
also a problem. I never have a slowfall OR levitation when I'm going
through doors. PLUS, my acrobatics are 210, so I wouldn't know where
this damage thing would happen.
Do you recommend that method,
though? Is it important for anything?

What Emma
said, and it's a bit simpler if you don't know anything about the
editor:
Acrobatics on the companions to
200...
In-game, open the console with the tilde (~) key.
Click on the companion with your cursor to make them the active
object in the console (the title, "Console", at the top will change
to the id of your companion). Type the
following:
setacrobatics 200
Setting will "stick" so
you only need to do it once per companion. Won't hurt, and will keep
them from dying when you go through doors.

----> I know. I tried that one and Vorwoda's doors (and talked to
Vorwoda about it and his doors script only works for companions that
are built with that in mind and GYO's clearly are not.) You may well
be entirely correct and perhaps the solution you suggest works
equally well. But from my own experience the one that worked was
TheLys' solution that I quoted.
As I recall, there is one
spells entry to change. You know my CS-anxiety-syndrome
and I was able to do it in about 3 minutes following those
directions.

It is not a question of your
acrobatics or slowfall. It is the slowfall spell on the GYO
companions, invoked without you being aware of it that gives the
doors dentures. Editing as TheLys suggests fixes that, permanently
for all of them.

Morter: No
offense if you are an editor guru...
Ronin: Reason you want
to do it this way (setacrobatics), is because it does not require
editing, and "we" don't know if this individual has editing
capabilities or not at this point.
He has not told us one way
or another, and as many know, editing can be somewhat
intimidating.
Now maybe it would be good for this individual
to get familiar with the editor (if he/she is not already), so I
won't argue that point, but the "setacrobatics" method is near
foolproof and easy to use, and only requires a simple operation in
the console.
Yann's suggestion is valid, and is the better of
the two options, but I generally proceed from the assumption that
people know little of editing unless informed otherwise...

Grumpy, I'm
not too keen on the Editor as far as CREATING things, but as for
editing things, you just have to tell me how to GET there. I'm a
good enough guesser. I am familiar, however, to the console [THANK
YOU, UNREAL'S ENGINE!]
I am familiar with setting people's
stats. I set most people I have to escort via conventional quests
with 400 speed. I understand what setacrobatics do. I do not mind,
in the slightest, taking out the slowfall feature in the GYO mod.
All I want to know is 1) Will it damage the mod in any way, or my
save.
and
2) Is this some importand dire feature
needed in GYO? Or can it be deleted without a 2nd
thought..
Thank you ALL for your great assistance
^_^
Hint: For those with GYO and VGreetings, join the
imperial Legion. It is so hilarious to have the steel clad imperial
jerkwads look up at you with sad puppy eyes and go "-Your Bidding,
Knight?-". Owned

Yep, know that place.
Point taken. Agreed. Mea culpa. Flowers?

Nope, I did it midway in with no ill
effects. Just make a clean copy of the mod (and the savegame) before
you edit it just in case - always good housekeeping practice by the
way.

The latter . . rip it out if you
want to go that way. No dire consequences.
Edit: Emma, very nice new avvy by
the way!

I'm sort of new to TESAME. I know HOW to

You normally
have nothig to do in TESAME at all, just open the normal
Construction set coming with the game. As Ronin said above, it's a
mater of seconds if you know the editor, minutes if you're a perfect
noob
Just
follow the instructions, it's very very easy.
I'm preparing a
version 1.4 (coming soon, promise) for bypassing this problem and
add some new features before version 2.0 which will come a while
later (because of total rewriting).
